i'm not liking things at the moment. the job is *meh.* every week i have to go to an elementary school. i don't really like going. i feel it's a waste of time seeing as there are monthly gaps between the schools i visit. there is no english taught when i'm not there. so i go and make a total monkey of myself teaching these kids something that they're gonna forget as soon as i leave the room.

financially, this month hasn't been pretty.. i just got paid last week and a big chunk of my money is gone. not to mention the fact that i need to spend more money on train tix and a hotel for my friend's wedding.

home is s0 s0. i can't find the time to give my place a good cleaning. i'm so tired when i get home from work that i end up taking a nap. i haven't cooked a good dinner in months, i think. and, clothes are forever hanging inside my house. i can't hang them outside for the fear of rain. it takes forever to dry when they're hung inside the house. and, as so as they are dry i have a fresh load of laundry to do.

the long break is over... please hand me a tissue

it was not for loss though. my GF took 2 days off work and came down to my place for about 10 days.. i missed her and it was good to see her again. we went to tak, kanazawa, and tonami among other places... we also ate some good food..

those 10 days seemed to zoom by. now i'm at work and sort of depressed.. my GF calls go-gatsu byo or May depression. it seems to happen to a lot of people in japan right after the long april break...

did some 花見 yesterday..

a group of us, went to a park next to Uozu Aquarium. equipped with drinks (the alcoholic variety, of course) and food, we hung out under the cherry blossom trees eating shit. fun was had. it did, however, get very chilly as the sun went down.

i decided to break from the group early, so i drank my last chu-hi and headed home. as it turns out, after i was gone, my group was invited by a big japanese group having a picnic close by. this japanese group had music, hot food and, most important, hot sake!

i can only imagine what crazy antics people got to when they were drunk and warm. but i'm sure that everyone enjoyed themselves.

"it's friday! time to go out tonight and have some drinks!" is what i would say if i didn't have to work tomorrow. i gotta be in the office by 8. don't really know why. i think the PTA is gonna observe some classes. BASTARDS! if you wanna observe how the school is running why not come on a normal school day!

Back in Japan after about 11 days in home... well about 2 actual days at home.. the rest of those days were spent in the Dominican Republic...

That trip was, hmmm, i don't have the words to describe it. We stayed at my aunts house. In the D.R. the power infrastructure isn't like it is in the US or Japan, so the power would go out once or twice a day for hours on end. Luckily the house had a generator so it wasn't too bad. What really sucked was the f*&king mosquitoes. They bit me all over.

Funny thing about living in Japan for the past 8 months. I got really used to the quiet. In the D.R. there is no such thing as quiet. There was music blaring out of some place all day... people were driving around with big ass speakers attached to their cars and just blasting the music. There was one night, the night of the block party, when the music was playing till 3 in the morning. I'm talking about wall-shaking loud-ass regeton.

And driving... shit. People drive craaaazy. Here we are stopped at the red light and every other car is driving right thru it. When I asked my cousin what's going on, she said, "no one pays attention to this light." I thought I would die quite a few times.

I only got to spend about 2 days in Miami. I didn't have much time to do anything or to meet up with all of my friends. I also got some bad news from my family.

There's more, but this is all i can stand to talk about now.
I'm happy to be back. My trip home did help me realize that I need to get on with my life. I need to start thinking about what i wanna do after i finish with jet. I need to start looking for another job.

back in miami... and i must say, it feels f$&king good to be in shorts and tee shirts... i slept in my old bed.. i forgot how comfortable it was.. too bad i have jet lag or i could've really enjoyed my sleep.

right now we're getting ready to leave for a week in D.R. i hope it's fun...

peace!

(in 大阪) i've come to the realisation that i really want to move to osaka. i've only been here for 3 days, but i feel more at home than in the 6 months that i lived in toyama... what can i say, i can just see myself living here...

the past few days have been great! i got to osaka friday evening and was greeted by yuki at the station.. i haven't seen her in a few weeks so it was really nice to be able to hold her hand again.. then we met up with some good friends from Kansai Gaidai and ate some Nepalize food.. it felt like old times even though it's been a couple of years since i've seen some of these people.

saturday yuki and i went to Universal Studios Japan. even though the weather was shit, we had a good time. it was freaking packed, though. we had long waits at a few of the attractions but we killed time by talking nonsense like we always do..we managed to stay from opening to close.. all in all, it was a good day!

sunday yuki and i met up with kumi and nao. we just hung out in tennoji the whole afternoon. we shopped and yapped about all kinds of stuff. sunday flew by and then yuki had to head back to nagoya :(

today, i went out to get presents for my parents and brother. i headed to kyoto. i managed to get my mom and brother something. however, i couldn't find the present i wanted to get my dad.
tomorrow i head home for a couple of weeks. i'm looking forward to seeing my family. i'm not looking forward to the 16+ hour trip. gotta find some sleeping pills so i can bear the flight.

A bunch of the recent graduates came back to school today to find out that they passed their entrance exams... I'm happy for them. Wish them the best of luck..

Just 15 more minutes till I'm outta here... that's 900 seconds (yes, i'm counting the seconds. that's how bored i am). I gotta get home and finish the food in my fridge or else I'll come back from Miami in 2 weeks to a moldy roach infested trap.

the countdown begins... 7 days till i'm back in Miami. Hell yeah!!!

i'm back at work after a fight with the flu ruined my weekend.. i had a temperature of 101..

i'm all better now, but i wish the flu would have hit me on a monday instead of on a friday. it totally ruined my snowboarding plans.. which sux cuz the weather is starting to warm up and i don't know how many more times i'll be able to go snowboarding..

Back from an awesome weekend of snowboarding in nagano. 3/4 of my body is sore and the remainder is black and blue. It was beautiful. I tried somethings that i never tried before. even tried launching off of ramps. Mind you, they were very small ramps. However, i did manage to land one of the many jumps i attempted.

I'm now sitting at work. I think i'm catching a cold. That would just suck!

KICK ME PLEASE!

Tuesday, January 24, 2006

just had lunch... it amazes me that school lunch is just as bad here as it is back home. but i was hungry so i ate it all. it's been snowing on and off all morning so there is a fresh layer of snow on the ground... and we all know what that means..SNOWBALL FIGHT.. i didn't start it this time but some of the kids starting chugging snowballs at me and i couldn't let that go unanswered.. I got a few good hits on em. but when it's 20 to 1 it's not gonna be pretty..

now i'm back at my desk with about 2 hours to go.. sigh

hello mellow yellow... only had one class today. the rest of the day was pretty boring. sat in front of my computer and installed monopoly on said computer. hopefully, this will keep my busy on these boring days.

chased a kid down the hall today.. that was fun (he still thinks he can outrun me). with that said, students seem to be feeling more confident around me. they try to talk to me in english which is something that they never tried to do when i got here (i'm proud of that).

anywho, looking to take up yoga. one of the other alt's teach it once a week. looking forward to starting up a regular exercise regimen.
